đ Expats Planet
Real expat life. Real travel. Real âWTF?â moments.
If youâre looking for a dreamy, pastel-filtered, life abroad type âI found myself in Baliâ travel blog⊠keep scrolling.
Expats Planet is for people who want the truth.
The kind of truth you usually only hear after your third beer with a long-term expat who says, âOkay, listen. Hereâs how it actually works.â
This is expat life unfiltered.
Itâs the stuff guidebooks âforgetâ to mention.
The cultural landmines.
The bureaucratic nonsense.
The moments that are beautiful and hilarious⊠right after they stop being terrifying.
I write about what happens when you actually live abroad, not when you âvisitâ a country for five days and declare yourself transformed.
If youâve ever thoughtâŠ
-
âI want to live abroad, but I donât want to be an idiot about it.â
-
âWhy does every travel article sound like it was written by a tourism board?â
-
âI donât need inspiration. I need street smarts.â
âŠyouâre in the right place. â
đ§ What youâll find here
The secret rules of living abroad
The ones nobody puts in a guidebook because theyâre not âpretty.â
But locals will absolutely judge you for breaking them.
The good, the bad, and the WTF
Awe, faceplants, near-misses, culture shocks, and the occasional âI canât believe I survived thatâ story.
Practical survival stuff
Not â10 reasons to follow your dreams.â
More like: how to navigate life abroad without bleeding money, losing your mind, or accidentally committing a social crime.
Whether youâre a digital nomad, slow traveler, semi-retired wanderer, or just expat-curious, youâll leave with stories and tactics.
Who am I
Iâm David Peluchette, an American expat who has lived, worked, and traveled abroad for 27 years and counting.

Iâve:
- Walked the Camino de Santiago (not once, but twice!).
- Survived 2 revolutions in Ukraine.
- Navigated life as an expat during a pandemic in Georgia on lockdown.
- Built a life in Albania while exploring Europeâs hidden gems.
Along the way, Iâve learned what works, what doesnât, and why sometimes the only way to learn is to fail spectacularly (laugh and write about it later).
